Working and studying
- Few tips and suggestions for studying effectively and efficiently
- Be proactive:
- ask questions
- come to office hours (if you have questions)
- participate in disucssions (in the class, on Piazza, ...)
- do the exercises regularly
- aim for learning rather than getting a good/passing grade
- ...
- Develop working habits:
- read the textbook/do the homework right after the class
- make routines and rituals (wake up at a certain time,
find a fixed cosy corner in the library,
drink tea or listen to music as prelude to studying, ...)
- find study partners
- (find your own ways to) be organized
- avoid social media while working
- make to-do lists

- Learn how to learn (math):
- learn by doing (try to figure things out on your own
before looking up the solutions)
- ask yourself questions and try to answer them
- think on your own
- discuss with others
- take notes (creatively)
- check out the course outline
- check out the learning objectives
- read text book actively rather than aimlessly
(identify the things you want to learn
and look for them in the textbook and the problem book)
- use multiple sources (do not trust me!)
